This is a piece that I so wish that I had done a photo journey record of as it came to life. It started as a single image with wings then before I knew it another piece of clay was forming a new figure that was ever so slowly finding its way to an embrace and then that sweet kiss. It really was quite the experience as an artist…as if I were simply witnessing this beautiful, powerful relationship forming between these two figures.
This piece since its finished state in ceramic has gone through a number of metamorphoses, as it became a bronze. In fact, I poured it the first time and then went back into the wax with at least a thousand more feathers and a completely different movement on the wings; so much so that I had to make an entirely new mold.
I have added some photo images as it changed along the way.
